Sushi Taro is a fantastic spot for sushi enthusiasts and those who enjoy cooked seafood alike. The menu offers plenty of options, ensuring there's something for everyone. To start, the cooked mixed vegetables were a great choice--well-seasoned and a perfect complement to the meal. The seaweed and radish dish was both refreshing and warming, setting a nice tone for the evening. The 6-piece Poke-mon roll and shrimp tempura roll were both delicious and satisfying. The two 6-piece rolls were plenty for a dinner. The rice was perfect sushi rice, adding to the already flavorful fish and sauce. We also sampled the rainbow roll, which featured a fun and vibrant mix of fish, and the salmon avocado roll, a classic favorite. Our waitress was attentive and made sure our drinks were never empty. We enjoyed a cute booth right inside, which was perfect for a cozy dinner for two.

It has been the best Sushi and authentic Japanese quality foods in Washington DC area and still our # 1 choice when we crave some quality sushi and authentic Japanese foods!! I am super snob when comes to authentic sushi and Japanese foods, so this review is coming from my mouth and true! Some reviews said that it's the easiest 5 stars given to Sushi Taro that's totally true and agreed! I know I would give 10 stars at anytime to Sushi Taro and that has never changed over 10 years of my experience. Some people who have used to American type of sushi in the State and had never been to Japan may would not understand the differences and true quality, but most of grommet people or sushi snobs easily get it how quality of Sushi Taro. We came here on 8/24 Saturday evening and it was happened to restaurant week. The full course was just amazing!! My favorite was breaded soft shell crab - it was so good I forgot to take a pic of it, but I still cannot forget how delicious it was!! It was so fresh and crunchy, juicy inside the crab meat! I've never had such a delicious soft shell crab in my life seriously, ( and I had been to so many places for soft shell crabs in my life ) I would go back here right now to just get the one but probably it was a special menu during restaurant week. The bartender / waiter at the bar is always cool and professional, he has great knowledge and cool manner as always. He gave us great recommendation on menus and especially when I debated between soft shell crab or special ramen option on the course menu - I'm glad I listened him and went for soft shell crab :) I heard people said their special ramen is delicious too and I hope to try their ramen when they have on the menu. We also ordered Grilled yellowtail Jaw - It was heavenly as always! It was so good we forgot to take a pic again! ( but we will next time ) Their service is great and waitresses are also very nice in manner and graceful as always. Main course of sushi was breathtaking as always for perfect rice and freshness of fishes, so delicious as always! Desert we got was burnt cheese cake and Houji-cha pudding - both were so delicious as well and would love to get them again. We've been here over 10 years now and never got disappoint even 1 second and had 1000% satisfied each time. I'll be looking forward to coming back to this restaurant again soon!

I give it a 3.8 stars Came in on restaurant week and was very excited bcuz I heard a lot bout this spot. The ramen broth flavor was not good at all couldn't finish. Seared salmon was not that good as well. The spicy tuna roll was amazing with good spice. My other faves were the eel, shrimp, salmon and uni. I think for the price tho I would rather go to Torai Sushi in eastern market. Their sushi is just as good and lot less expensive. Also, I didn't get omakase, and I think omakase has the higher quality fish. So I don't think I can compare it to Nakazawa which I loved. The staff were really nice and easy going. It's in a nice neighborhood you can chill in too and the spot was nice and clean.

YUM! It's been a long while since I've been here... the last time was before covid. Back then, the happy hour was 50% off but now it is 25% on parts of the menu. Prices are higher than I remember as well. That is probably the one downfall I would call out. Aside from that, I showed up for happy hour ahead of time and had a gift certificate from a birthday present. I ordered a lot. There on my own after a few tough weeks at work and I was ready to eat. I ordered a whole boatful and a separate plate. Pretty sure it was how much I saw other customers order as a pair... maybe even more. Go big or go home! There were some new items like the wagyu with uni. The wagyu was full price but I was ready to treat myself and helloooo it melted in my mouth. It was delicious. The uni was also good and a delicious touch but not as rich as the Big Mac combo that I like to get from Sushi by M in NYC. I would probably still get it again. The fish overall was fresh. The servers were pretty good but a bit distracted. I think probably because they were also setting up at opening while serving the initial influx of customers. It was not too bad though. I was also super thirsty from baking in the sun outside to wait for happy hour before they opened so was chugging water faster than the average diner. I would come back again but more of an occasional treat.
